A Tribute to Bill Hicks

In my opinion Bill Hicks is the greatest comedian of all time but he was unfortunately taken way before his time. This coming Thursday, 2/26/09 will be 15 years since the passing of the great Mr. Hicks. If you have never heard Bill Hicks then you are truly missing out, so you should watch these vids and the many others you can find on YouTube or at Sacred Cow’s website. If you have never heard him and listen to the band Tool you would recognize him from the samples they used of Bill on Aenima and even in some of Maynard’s lyrics, the songs inspired by Bill are “Aenima” and “Third Eye”. Tool also had Bill open for them on the 1993 Lollapalooza tour because they were huge fans and recognized his genius. This is one of my many favorite Bill Hicks clips where he talks about religion and Jesus coming back.

Bill was supposed to appear on Letterman shortly before he died and before the show aired the whole segment Bill recorded was pulled because they said it was too controversial. This segment being pulled was very controversial and Bill was extremely pissed about it along with all of his fans. Below is the exact same routine he did on the Letterman show, and you will see there is nothing wrong with. The master copy from the Letterman show was destroyed and the only copy of it was sent to his mother.

Next is a link to the final interview Bill Hicks did before he left this world and it is well worth watching, I will warn you though that it is over an hour long.

Bill Hicks Final Interview, Texas public Access

I just found the actual footage of Bill Hicks from Letterman, it was posted and I have never seen it. It is with his mom on as a guest they air the footage since she had the only copy as mentioned above.
