3 Underrated Musicians and Bands

underrated-musiciansI am a big music lover, if you can not tell by all of the music related posts that I do here. I prefer the heavier music the majority of the time but I listen to a little bit of everything. There are so many bands that are amazing at what they do that never really made it “big” after many years of recording albums and touring. All 3 of these bands have their own unique sound, you can hear many different influences in the music but the bands expanded upon their influences and diversified. Hopefully you enjoy!

Clutch
Clutch are a great heavy rock/stoner rock band whose sound encompasses many different styles of music including rock, blues, and metal. The band was formed in Maryland back in 1990 and having been going strong ever since, with a loyal following worldwide. Every Clutch album introduces something new to the Clutch sound, this is because they constantly expand upon their roots and their influences.

Dax Riggs
Next up is a guy who has played in quite a few different bands over the years. The first band I heard him in is a band I still listen to frequently, Acid Bath. They were from Louisiana and released a couple albums in the 90′s before they disbanded after the loss of their bass player to a car accident. After Acid Bath Dax went on to do a couple different projects, these included Agents of Oblivion and Deadboy and the Elephant Men. Now he has a solo album out that is as good as everything else he has ever done. Dax is a great singer, songwriter, and poet who does not get the attention he deserves.

Porcupine Tree
Porcupine Tree are an amazing psychedelic/progressive rock band that started out in 1987 as a collaborative hoax between Steven Wilson and Malcolm Stocks. Inspired by psychedelic bands of the 70s such as Pink Floyd, that dominated the music scene during their youth, the two decided to form a fictional legendary rock band named The Porcupine Tree. Well, now it is 2009 and Porcupine Tree are still going strong and every album is an excellent example of good prog rock. These guys are definitely worth checking out if you are into good progressive and sometimes psychedelic rock and roll.
